Hmmm, I was sure they'd try free 2 play with extra cash from the TCG...

Interview with Smedley over the closure. Link at bottom to more expanded timeline of what gets shutoff when (like card packs no longer available)

Yeah, I thought for sure they'd go free-to-play at some point. I'm surprised they're still developing GCW2. I suspect SOE is still making money, it's the Lucasarts license that is going away. They probably don't want 2 Star Wars MMOs around.

There are what, say at least 100k subscribing players left across all servers? EA has stated they need 1mil subs for the game to break even. LA perhaps is thinking this puts them 10% closer to that goal. Probably not the only reason.

Like I said last night, LA probably wants a clean break from the past. I don't think they ever like something sandboxy for SW. In many ways, TOR is what LA wanted with the NGE. A more action oriented and directed game. With lots of jedi.

Since my free 45 days expires Monday, I resubbed. I am away a lot of weekends this summer, but I'll be around when I can.

How can I tell when I free-time will expire ?

I'm emotionally committed, but it looks like I'll have to shell out some hard-saved $ now...just because.

Log into the SOE site and check your account subscriptions. It will give the expiry date for your free time.
